A display of the Cuban Modern Dance School techniques, sponsored by one of the most renowned companies in Latin America, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba. Its foundation dates back to 1959, when a magnificent group of artists came together. This workshop offers the opportunity to observe and learn the techniques of Cuban modern dance school by all those interested in this artistic manifestation. Participants from the five continents have enjoyed the synthesis of universal modern dance and Cuban folklore and recognize the distinctive mark of the workshop.

Old Havana transforms into a huge open-air stage. Performances, acrobats, music and theatre troupes invade once more its plazas with this event that forms part of the international circuit of Dancing Cities. It is the objective of this encounter to bring locals closer to alternative languages of contemporaneous creation. A series of free-access workshops will allow the public to interact with the artists in open-air areas drizzled with bohemian and ancient influences that have pervaded our historical center. Likewise, conferences, debates, homage ceremonies, exhibits, audiovisual exhibits and concerts extending till night hours are all part of the event.

The defense of a cinema made with modest resources, yet boasting an elevated ethical and cultural spirit is the objective of this festival. It bids for the non-alignment of spectators with the presentation of products that are self-excluded from manipulating commercial concepts. At the same time, it supports in a practical way, the undertaking of an emancipated and alternative cinema by providing the authors economic and technological resources that, although modest, allow these works to develop. The event’s agenda includes seminars, presentations and conferences dealing with the theme from an ethical, artistic and technological standpoint.

Every two years by late October, the International Ballet of Havana takes over the Cuban capital. Thanks to its main promoter, Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso, the Festival has hosted the greatest artists of the ballet dancing universe. This event came to being with a popular nature to show the cultural mosaic in the easternmost Cuban region with its changüí, French tumba and French-Haitian folklore. Its agenda includes scientific activities, contests, expositions, fairs, tributes and Guantanamera nights. Also, the symbol and seal of the City will be presented in a special ceremony.

This is one of the most prestigious cinematography festivals, in which an ample insight of audiovisual production in the continent is given, and also shows the principal world cinematography productions in fiction and documentary genres. It includes a script and posters contest; seminars on cinema, new technologies and Latin cinema in the United States. It usually has space dedicated to the audiovisual universe of Latin American children.

Con la presencia de la prestigiosa figura del maestro Jesús “Chucho” Valdés, se ha logrado una importante tradición y repercusión internacional del Jazz Latino o Jazz Cubano, donde figuras relevantes, cultores del género, hacen gala de su virtuosismo y talento. Se podrán apreciar presentaciones de bandas, conjuntos y solistas. Se desarrollan coloquios y debates sobre el género.
